
The primary role of First 5 Fresno County is to ensure that Proposition 10 resources are used to support the healthy development of children from the prenatal stage through age five. In order to accomplish our goals and desired outcomes for families, the Commission invests in programs and activities that are consistent with the First 5 Fresno County 2008-2013 Strategic Plan.

Approaches to Funding
First 5 Fresno County awards funds within two categories: Commission Initiatives and Community Grants. On occasion, the Commission may also direct resources to address new and emerging needs or opportunities in the county that support the healthy development of children and their families.

The strategic plan focus area of Systems Improvement is not an independently funded initiative. Funding for systems improvement is integrated within the Health, Early Care, and Family Strengthening Initiatives and is a critical component necessary to make long-term community impact.
