Funding

The primary role of First 5 Fresno County is to ensure that Proposition 10 resources are used to support the healthy development of children from the prenatal stage through age five. In order to accomplish our goals and desired outcomes for families, the Commission invests in programs and activities that are consistent with the First 5 Fresno County 2008-2013 Strategic Plan.

Our Funding Priorities

Fund programs that fit within the strategic plan.

Seek opportunities for community partnerships that promote the healthy development of young children.

Be responsive to emerging community needs and opportunities that build local capacity.

Approaches to Funding

First 5 Fresno County awards funds within two categories: Commission Initiatives and Community Grants. On occasion, the Commission may also direct resources to address new and emerging needs or opportunities in the county that support the healthy development of children and their families.

  • Community Grants

The Community Grants Program is based on the notion that those living and working in a community have a unique and critical understanding of their community assets and needs and that they have creative ideas for effectively addressing those needs. Learn more about our Community Grants.

  • Commission Initiatives

The majority of Commission funding is allocated through these strategic plan focus areas:

The strategic plan focus area of Systems Improvement is not an independently funded initiative. Funding for systems improvement is integrated within the Health, Early Care, and Family Strengthening Initiatives and is a critical component necessary to make long-term community impact.

All funded agencies must adhere to our contract policies.
